Scott Feyereisen

As an educator of 15 years, I currently serve as the Athletic Director at a large urban school. I completed my undergraduate studies at Illinois State University, majoring in History Education. I was the head sophomore football coach for six seasons, where we laid the groundwork for three future city championships. I earned my Master's degree in School Leadership from Concordia University, beginning to focus more on instructional leadership, spearheading several school-wide grading practice initiatives and curriculum upgrades. I recently completed my School Business Official certification at Northern Illinois University, where I expanded my capacity regarding financial projections and sustainable school funding. I have been married for seven years, and my wife and I had our first child in January.

I've been an educator for eight years! I graduated in 2015 with a Master's in Education from DePaul University. My mission throughout my teaching program was to teach in a large urban school. Mission accomplished! I love my school, thanks to the great students and teachers that make every day rewarding, fun, and funny. My specialty is social-emotional learning and teaching seminar courses to develop students beyond just their academics. I've taken on a variety of leadership roles in my school as well as worked as a lead Union Delegate for the Chicago Teachers Union. I also have engaged with various extracurriculars ranging from Debate Team to Video Game Club. In addition to teaching high school, I am an adjunct professor at the DePaul University College of Education. Outside of my professional life, I’m a basement-dwelling nerd who loves Godzilla, Ultraman, board games, and video games. When I have free time, I spend a lot of time talking to my dogs, parrot, and sometimes my wife.

I've been a teaching for four years. I graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor's in Social Science Secondary Education from Saint Xavier. I have taught in a large urban school since graduation from SXU and have enjoyed my time here. I am deeply integrated with the bilingual program at my school. I teach predominantly ELL students, of which one course is entirely in Spanish. I have worked as a Union Delegate for the Chicago Teachers Union and a Local School Council Member for my particular school. I am currently working on a mentorship program at my school that integrates community building and physical activity as a form of self-care. I am an (almost certified) gym rat with a cat named Benito, after Bad Bunny.
